This month was a winner from beginning to end. Our Olympians slayed, our festivals filled us with summer spirit and The Great British Bake Off has already made us start choosing champions. Our August events calendar 2016 has been good to us!
August Events 2016
Olympics
Want a reason to be proud of our country? Well, coming 2nd at the Rio 2016 Olympics this august is defo something to be celebrating (and also this incred selfie). We’re not proud, however, at how many times we re-watched and cringed at the Olympic disasters: the Gymnast who broke his leg, the Weightlifter who pulled his arm out of joint and the Diver who just kind of… flopped? Ouch!
But most of all the medals which kinda looked like a killer highlighter left us a bit gutted that they weren’t. Even the ‘packaging’ looks like something a beauty brand could only dream of! Someone get on that and make it a reality, pretty please?
Festivals
Festival season was upon us and we were embracing it massively! V Fest gave us moments like Rihanna (despite being late she was werk werk werkin’ those black patent vibes), Biebs (what actually went on there?!), Bastille (you’ll never get ‘Good Grief’ out of your head… ever), and finally Little Mix (#squadgoals – we’ll just have to stare at Perrie in our Melina Stilletto Ankle Boots and pretend we were there) just to name a few.

Biebs manages to grab all the headlines all of the time, doesn’t he? Following on from last month’s photo and hug refusal, he’s decided to take it a million steps further. Following a feud on Instagram with his ex bae Selena, Justin has deleted his Insta all together! He’d had enough of all of the hate that his new gal, Sofia Richie, was getting from the #belibers after posting five photos in a row of the loved up pair. Selena weighed in on his comments with “if you can’t handle the hate, stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol — it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before anyone ever did.” Power to you, gurl! Who run the world?!
Instagram Stories
The great debate that has divided the world, and possibly the greatest of all the August events: Instagram Stories or Snapchat? We were a bit sceptical ourselves but we always have to try something new. Despite not having the dog filter, we’re kinda fans. The Great British Bake Off
And finally, the thing that had us all glued to our screens. The Great British Bake Off started at the end of August. Despite no one in the office being a contender, we all still sit and criticise those wonky cakes and upside down Jaffa Cakes like we’re Mezza Bezza herself. Well, there’s no one around to judge our shop bought delights purchased for a night in front of the telly. Nothing like a bit of sass from Paul Hollywood!
